This article is very disturbing. Apparently most federal prisoners don’t like pork, and those who do are being forced to eat turkey bacon. There are two truly horrible implications. The first is the possible link between aversion to pork and a tendency toward criminal activity. Is there a genetic link between people who don’t like bacon and a disposition to commit crimes? I hope that the survey is wrong so that we don’t go down the slippery slope of testing people for pork aversion and incarcerating them before the commit crimes. The second is the use of turkey bacon on the prisoners who lack the anti-pork, pro-crime gene. That’s cruel and unusual punishment, pure and simple.
