As if they didn’t have enough problems in the wake of Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico has been hit by an 6.4 earthquake and a 6.0 aftershock. The damage was centered on the southwestern portion of the island, west of Ponce, and San Juan seems to be unaffected as of this writing. Our hearts and, I trust, our help go out to Puerto Rico.
Mindful of the need to help the Puertan Rico economy and, not least, go to a tropical paradise, Nancy and I went to San Juan last year between Christmas and New Year’s. We had just a wonderful time, and I encourage everyone to consider going this winter. To add encouragement, I’ll be highlighting some really good San Juan restaurants, starting with a place that is a delight to the palate and oh so gentle on the budget — my favorite combination — Orozco’s.
